OUR PLEDGE TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY

At Cooper, we believe that it is our responsibility to take every action possible to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees, our community members and our planet.  We have embarked on several initiatives to forward our pledge, and daily continue our mission towards more sustainable practices.

Marine Debris Clean-Up

  • We proudly support the Papahānaumokuākea Marine Debris Project (PMDP)
  • PMDP cleans plastic and debris from the uninhabited Hawaiian archipelago.
  • Projects the last two years have cleared over 460,000 pounds of plastic and debris
  • PMDP protects sensitive wildlife in the Marine National Monument, including Hawaiian Monk seals and green sea turtles as well as their critical habitat and coral reefs
  • Youth education is also a component; students can 3D print their own designs from recycled ocean plastic at their own schools

    Electric Vehicles

    • We currently have four Teslas in our fleet of vehicles
    • Four electric Silverado Pick-up trucks have been pre-ordered
    • The ultimate goal is for 8 of 60 company-owned vehicles to be electric by the end of 2022 and 25 by the end of 2025

    Volunteer Hours

    • We volunteer employee hours to help the communities of North Carolina
    • We partner with an organization, Baptist on Mission, in their Hurricane Florence Charity Rebuild efforts which builds new housing for low-income individuals whose homes were damaged or destroyed due to hurricane related flooding
    • To date, we’ve donated over 33,350 employee hours, 13 years of employees, and build or rebuilt over 600 homes

    Community Support

    • Employees volunteer at the Salvation Army; sorting toys, tagging items or collecting donations
    • Support of Hope Academy, a K-8 academy for  socio-economically disadvantaged students, with monetary donations as well as much needed tangible items
    • Annual support of the ALS Association, North Carolina Chapter’s Triangle Walk
    • Annual toy collection to benefit Samaritan’s Purse and their Operation Christmas Child
